About Dr. Currell

Dr. Catherine Currell is a registered clinical psychologist.

A keen listener and non-judgemental attitude put her clients at ease
and her dedication and commitment to her clients’ well-being is her primary focus.
She has undergone a wide range of training in order to assist her clients in reaching their goals.

Dr. Currell’s training includes:

  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  •  Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  •  Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Having a wide range of therapeutic techniques at her disposal allows Dr. Currell to collaborate with the client to choose the one best suited to the needs of the individual, rather than adhering to a one-sized-fits all method. Her overall approach is always a kind and compassionate one.

Dr. Currell’s education includes degrees from York University (B.A., Psychology), City University of New York/John Jay College of Criminal Justice (M.A., Forensic Psychology) and Central Michigan University (Ph.D., Clinical Psychology).

She is a member in good standing with the British Columbia Psychological Association and holds active licensure with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (Registrant #2086) and the College of Alberta Psychologists (#5667).

Although psychology is her first and foremost passion, in her spare time, Dr. Currell enjoys volunteering with the Kamloops Search & Rescue, hiking with her dog, and weight lifting.
