and her dedication and commitment to her clients’ well-being is her primary focus.
She has undergone a wide range of training in order to assist her clients in reaching their goals.
Dr. Currell’s training includes:
- Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (looking at how a person’s automatic responses to a situation affects their feelings and their behaviours and how to change these responses to achieve better outcomes),
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (using mindfulness skills to orient a person towards value-driven behaviour and increase psychological flexibility),
- Psychodynamic Therapy (increasing awareness and experiencing feelings that may have been pushed out of consciousness)
- Person-centered Therapy
Having a wide range of therapeutic techniques at her disposal allows Dr. Currell to choose the one best suited to the individual needs of her clients, rather than adhering to a one-sized-fits all method. Her overall approach is always a kind and compassionate one.
Dr. Currell’s education includes degrees from York University (B.A., Psychology), City University of New York/John Jay College of Criminal Justice (M.A., Forensic Psychology) and Central Michigan University (Ph.D., Clinical Psychology).
She is a member in good standing with the British Columbia Psychological Association and holds active licensure with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (Registrant #2086).
