About Dr. Catherine Currell

Dr. Catherine Currell is a registered clinical psychologist dedicated to helping her clients achieve their goals in a compassionate and collaborative way. With a non-judgmental approach and keen listening skills, she creates a supportive environment where clients feel at ease.

Her training includes:

  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

Dr. Currell tailors therapeutic techniques to meet each client’s unique needs, ensuring a personalized and effective approach rather than a one-size-fits-all method.

She holds degrees from:

  • York University (B.A., Psychology)
  • City University of New York/John Jay College of Criminal Justice (M.A., Forensic Psychology)
  • Central Michigan University (Ph.D., Clinical Psychology)

Dr. Currell is a member in good standing with the British Columbia Psychological Association and is licensed with The College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (Registrant #2086) and the College of Alberta Psychologists (#5667).

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is a specialized approach to address trauma and PTSD. By examining and reframing unhelpful beliefs, it helps reduce emotional distress and fosters recovery from traumatic experiences.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

DBT focuses on balancing acceptance and change. It provides skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and navigate life with greater mindfulness and resilience.

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps process and heal from traumatic memories. By using guided eye movements, it reduces the emotional intensity of past experiences and promotes healing.
